Stronger, tougher and more secure than a bungee cord, Davis Instruments’ MiniShockle is a bungee cord on steroids. It’s ideal when boating, camping, biking, motorcycle riding or anytime a load needs to be solidly and safely held in place. Featuring UV-resistant nylon webbing sewn over marine-grade elastomer, the MiniShockle uses 316 stainless steel wire gate snaps that hold up to 300 lbs. That’s ten times the capacity of most standard bungee cords.
With a carabiner at each end, it can be clipped to a ring or eye-bolt, hooked over an edge, or clipped back around itself. Unlike a traditional bungee cord hook, the carabiner won’t easily bend or come flying off, possibly causing injury.
MiniShockles are great for tying items on a car roof rack, coiling heavy-duty extension cords, compressed air and garden hoses or securing bikes, scooters, skis, kayaks, surfboards or tools to a car or truck. It can also be used to lash things down on bicycles, motorcycles or 4-wheel ATVs. Unlike a strap that will gradually loosen over time, a MiniShockle will keep constant pressure on whatever needs to be held down. When traveling, MiniShockles are great to hold extra bags on a rolling suitcase by simply feeding one end through the handles and clipping it back to itself.
MiniShockles are also ideal for camping. They can be rigged on tents or awning guy lines. If someone trips over the line, it won’t rip the tent. In strong winds, it will absorb a gust instead of tearing the peg out of the ground. MiniShockles can be used to tie down tarps, hold down chairs, secure trashcan lids or even tension a loose line.
When boating, these shock cords can be used for multiple applications, including with sail ties, as coiled line keepers, as a power cord safety leash and for gas tank hold-down. Because the wire gate snaps are 316 stainless steel, they won’t rust or corrode. MiniShockles are perfect for lashing down extra items to touring kayaks, dinghies or whitewater rafts. When an inflatable boat gets hot and expands, MiniShockle expands with it. Users can even clip a MiniShockle to their fishing reel so when that really big fish bites, it won’t take the pole with it.
